The Critical Making lab is located in the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto. The space currently contains tools and equipment for experimenting with physical computing. Hardware includes microcontrollers, sensors and actuators of various types, breadboards, motors, LEDs, and other electronic components. The lab workstations include software for microcontroller programming (Arduino, Wiring), programs for rapid prototyping of visual and interactive programs (Processing, Pure Data), and applications for 2D and 3D graphic creation (Inkscape, SolidWorks, Rhino). We have a number of 3D printers (including an Objet30 Pro, a Dimension 1200es, and a numerous Makerbots), as well as multiple 3D scanners, a laser cutter, and an assortment of fabrication tools.
