The Critical Making lab is located in the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto. The space currently contains tools and equipment for experimenting with physical computing. Hardware includes microcontrollers, sensors and actuators of various types, breadboards, motors, LEDs, and other electronic components. The lab workstations include software for microcontroller programming (Arduino, Wiring), programs for rapid prototyping of visual and interactive programs (Processing, Pure Data), and applications for 2D and 3D graphic creation (Inkscape, Google Sketchup.) We also have a Dimension 1200es 3D printer. Future equipment will include tools of rapid material prototyping such as laser cutters, CNC mills, and additional 3D deposition printers.
